GreenBooks 3.4

• Written by Yi Lin

GreenBooks 3.4 is out. This release mainly introduces a freemium model for the Mac app, as well as includes small improvements to the app.

Mac Free Trial

With this new release, new users who have not purchased GreenBooks yet can download a free trial from the App Store, and only purchase after they’ve reached the 100 transactions limit. We hope this will encourage more people to try out GreenBooks.

If you have already purchased GreenBooks in the past, you would be grandfathered to a lifetime license automatically. If you are not grandfathered automatically, please email support@greenbooks.app to have the situation resolved.

New Date Picker

This release also brings a new and improved date picker for the iPhone app. Before, the date picker on the iOS app is an unwieldy scroll wheel:

Now, it’s an elegant pop-up menu. Selecting a date simply requires two taps:

Bug fixes

The following bugs were fixed in this release

  • Fixed incorrect behavior when non-Gregorian calendar is used on iOS. For example, the Buddhist calendar system used in Thailand and other countries would cause problems in the iOS app.
  • Fixed an UI bug on macOS Ventura where the stepper toolbar buttons in Breakdown are clipped on the top

New Versioning Scheme

Starting from 3.4, we are going to always have simultaneous release for the Mac and iOS app. They will share the same version number (e.g. 3.4, 3.5) in each release.

This release is relatively small. We are planning for more significant releases after the new year. With simultaneous release for both the Mac and iOS app, we intend to release new updates on a more consistent basis.

That’s all! I hope you enjoy this release.

Happy New Year! 🎉
