There's a real person behind GreenBooks
I'm Yi. I created GreenBooks back in 2011 — it was called Savings then — because I couldn't find a finance app I actually loved using. If you've ever emailed support, I'm probably the one who wrote back. I still build and use GreenBooks every day, and I'm here when you need help — support@greenbooks.app.

FAQ
How is this different than GreenBooks for Mac and iPhone?
The original GreenBooks for Mac and iPhone were introduced more than ten years ago, and for the last few years have not been getting any updates. We are introducing this new version of GreenBooks, built for the web, to incorporate many of the features our users have requested over the years. By moving to the web, we are able to innovate a lot faster. We designed the web app so it looks and feels like a native app, and you can install it natively on your phone as well.
What will happen to GreenBooks for Mac and iPhone?
GreenBooks for Mac and iPhone will continue to be available on the App Store, and we are committed to continuing to update it with bug fixes. However, all new development efforts will be going into this new version of GreenBooks for the web.
Does GreenBooks have a budget feature?
We left out budgeting in GreenBooks, and it's deliberate. It turns out, for most of our users, seeing the Breakdown report is sufficient for controlling their spending. There is no need to create a complicated budget. Apps like YNAB ask you to learn a whole budgeting method before you get anything back. However, we are open to hearing ideas from you about what you would like to see in a budget feature. If there is a simple and effective way to budget that's useful to everyone, we will add it to GreenBooks.
Do I have to connect my bank?
No, connecting to a bank is entirely optional in GreenBooks. Some of our users want it and some don't, so we make it an option for you. Bank connections are available in the US and Canada.
Can my spouse and I share it?
Yes, and this is one reason we moved GreenBooks to the web. The login for GreenBooks is just a simple email and password. You can share that easily with your other half.
Is my data private?
We keep your data absolutely private and secure. We have a simple business model — you pay for our service, we provide the software. We have no reason to show your data to anyone.
